Get ready for the clash
of two continents as the
cream of Europe take on
the elite of Asia in the
second Royal Trophy golf
tournament; a sporting event
that has captured worldwide
attention. In January 2007,
some of the finest golfers
from Europe and Asia will
put regional pride and team
honour on the line again
for the second edition of
this annual showdown.
The Royal Trophy,
set to develop on the same
scale as the Ryder Cup,
is a team competition between
the finest players in Europe
taking on the best-of-the-best
from Asia in a match-play
format. From January 11
to 14, 2007, these teams
will confront each other
for the second time in a
unique, face-to-face and
spectacular series of matches.
The event was held for the
first time in early January
2006, with the European
team captained by Spain's
legendary Seve Ballesteros,
while 30-time title winner
Japan's Massy Kuramoto headed
up the Asian team.
Thailand was selected as
host country for the first
five years, after which
time the event will alternate
between the great cities
of Europe and Asia. It's
only fitting that Thailand
will play host for the first
few years, as the impressive
16-kilogram perpetual Trophy
was graciously donated by
His Majesty King Bhumibol
Adulyadej of Thailand, and
the first edition of this
Championship took place
in the very year in which
the 65 million people of
Thailand commemorated the
60th Anniversay of His Majesty's
Accession to the Throne.
The three-day event in January
2007 will again be hosted
at the prestigious and highly
exclusive Amata Spring Country
Club in the outskirts of
Bangkok.
Asia Web Direct, owner of
Asia's leading travel information

event. Asia Web Direct will

days of the Royal Trophy
online and has developed
