Y. E. Yang’s tournament win at the Korean Open qualified him for the HSBC Champions tournament. The South Korean made full use of the opportunity and turned the golf world on its head, winning the prestigious Shanghai event. Not only did he defeat a world-class field and held-off a determined Tiger Woods and Retief Goosen, Yang’s landmark victory catapulted his ranking to No.1 on the European Tour Order of Merit.

In stunning the golf world, Yang became only the second Korean to win on the European Tour. His third win of 2006 propelled him up the Official World Golf Rankings in dramatic fashion.

The family man with three children has now made his mark in Japan, throughout Asia and on the European Tour. The player seen by many as one of the hottest players in the world looks forward to playing for the first time at the Royal Trophy.
