AMATA SPRING READY FOR ROYAL SHOWDOWN
2nd January, 2006

Tournament specific preparations have reached final stages at the world-class Amata Spring Country Club, the venue of the inaugural Royal Trophy to be played next Saturday and Sunday.

An event of the scale of the Royal Trophy, where some of the very best Europeans golfers will clash with a determined set of Asia 's great players, requires tremendous logistical preparations in order to cater for the players, the media, the television broadcast and the thousands of fans attending the Tournament.

“The set up for the television broadcast is presently underway and it is very large. The Royal Trophy will be broadcast live throughout the world reaching a massive potential audience. We are going live into key markets including all of Asia through Star Sports, the United Kingdom through Sky Television, the USA and Canada through the Golf Channel and all over the European continent. We will take the great images of Amata Spring Country Club and Thailand , in this season when the we a ther is so pleasant, to the entire world”, said Michael Williams, a Tournament Executive Producer whose broadcast experience includes production responsibilities at the Masters and the British Open.

“We are talking about twenty four kilometers of television cables, sixteen cameras, sixteen television towers, a fifty meter high crane and over one hundred television staff from all over the world including Europe, China, Australia, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong”, added the Sydney-based, Australian.

The Tournament features what is likely the largest operational set-up for any “single-sport” event ever held in Thailand . A massive purpose-built Entertainment Village will provide a great location for the fans to relax, eat and drink while they still enjoy the golf action on the numerous “50 inch” Sony television sets, shopping units will showcase some of the latest in golf equipment while Central Garments will provide to the fans the opportunity to buy the actual Official Team Uniforms for Asia and Europe. The Entertainment Village also features a very large scoreboard, over twenty tents and a variety of fun games for the fans.

Inside the 7,453 yard golf course, kiosks are being set-up by Heineken and Coca-Cola and permanent units of Amata Spring will provide the fans with cold beverages and food items right along almost every hole.

“We are making sure that the fans are never far from a cooling beverage inside the golf course so that they can fully enjoy watching these great Europeans and Asians compete for the Royal Trophy”, said Ms. Emma Lin, head of operation of The Royal Trophy.

“The Entertainment Village is something we are very proud of. The Village will feature a giant Heineken Beer Park where the fans can sit back, relax, chat and enjoy a great day with friends at Amata Spring while still keeping up with the fierce competition on the course. The center piece of the Royal Trophy is very serious competitive golf but, with no doubt, it will be a great “day out” and a lot of fun for the fans”, added Ms. Lin.

“The Royal Trophy is one of these events that one really cannot miss. This is the very first time Europe competes with Asia . It is also the first time Asia comes together to compete as one. It is historic. The whether is expected to be excellent, all the facilities will be in place and it will be great fun for the fans”, said a Tournament spokesperson.

It promises to be an unforgettable weekend and one of the highlights of Asia 's sports calendar. The Europeans are led by the legendary Spanish Seve Ballesteros while Asia will count on the dynamism of captain Kuramoto. Europe will benefit from the experience of “all time greats” Nick Faldo and Ian Woosnam while Asia will counter with “re-hot” Thai pair Thongchai Jaidee and Thaworn Wirachant and Japanese pair Keiichiro Fukabori and Yasuharo Imano.
